Joe has worked in the food industry over the last 28 years at Peter Macgregor Meats, Ault Foods, Agropur-Natrel, Parmalat and Kraft Foods. He has held a variety of positions at the Plant and Corporate levels; i.e. Plant Quality Manager, Corporate Quality Assurance Manager/Director, Plant Manager and most recently Corporate Sanitation at Kraft Foods-Northeast (ON, QC, NY). Joe is a Certified HACCP Auditor with the American Society of Quality, and completed the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 6 with Merit. Joe is also a Registered Microbiologist with the Canadian College of Microbiologists (RMCCM). He has taught Food Packaging, Quality Assurance and Microbiology at Seneca College (Toronto) and has presented at the Ontario Food Protection Association and the Food Safety Symposium in Southwest Ontario. Joe is also adept at conducting Sanitation Kaizen Events for food processing facilities. He brings 25 years of experience of using his microbiological and sanitation knowledge while working collaboratively with plant sanitarians to provide uncompromising food safety and superior quality. Joe graduated from the University of Guelph in 1987 with an honours degree in Applied Food Microbiology and Agricultural Science.

An experienced Food Safety and Quality Assurance professional with over 25 years’ experience in the food industry, Angela started her career at JM Schneider’s working in the chemistry lab and then moved to Campbell’s Soup where she became the Plant Microbiologist. The last 18 years she has spent her time at Piller’s Fine Foods in Waterloo Ontario. She joined as a QA/ Lab Technician, was promoted to a QA Manager, and most recently to her current position as Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance where she oversees two GFSI / HACCP Certified manufacturing facilities and the distribution warehouse. Angela eagerly brings her years of industry experience in food manufacturing, plant sanitation, microbiological analysis, auditing and her strong leadership abilities to the OFPA team of directors. Angela graduated from Seneca College’s Biotechnology Program and she completed further studies at the University of Guelph Food Science Division. She is a proud graduate of Dale Carnegie’s Organizational Leadership program certified by The University of Central Missouri and received the NSF International 2017 Food Safety Recognition Award for Leadership.
Vice President: Lead 2020 Fall Meeting; Website Maintenance & QA - Rocio Morales - Joined Board of Directors 2017
Rocio is a food microbiologist with more than 10 years of experience working with academia and industry. She has worked with diverse food companies on different microbial issues such as quality of dairy products, validation of meat processes, risk assessments, and natural antimicrobials, using a science-based approach. Some of the companies that she has collaboratively worked with include GayLea, BioMérieux, and Neogen. Rocio currently oversees the microbiology activities at Agat Laboratories in Mississauga, Ontario. She is also a lecturer, (as a food virology expert) for the Food Safety Programs at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Queretaro, Mexico. Rocío holds a doctorate degree in Food Science from the University of Guelph and a Masters degree in Biotechnology from CINVESTAV-IPN, Mexico.

Nadia has over 20 years of experience in various Quality Assurance/Technical roles. She has worked within a variety of food manufacturing facilities, as well as retail, which include industries such as bakery, confectionery and dairy. Nadia has expertise in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Food Safety, and Hygiene, and has strong auditing and training skills. She is currently a registered auditor for GFSI standards such as BRC, FSSC, and SQF. In addition, she audits to unaccredited standards such as the Gluten Free Certification Program, HACCP, and GMP. Nadia is a BRC Approved Training Partner for Food, Storage & Distribution, Packaging, and Agents, Brokers & Retail. With SQF, she is a certified consultant, auditor and trainer. Nadia has worked with globally recognized organizations including Cadbury Chocolate, Maple Leaf Foods- Canada Bread, SAI Global, and SGS.
Nadia is currently the Owner/President of Lumar Food Safety Services Ltd. She is the recipient of the Approved Training Partner and Consultant of the year for BRC 2017 and received the Alumnus of Distinction Award from Centennial College in 2018. Nadia is currently a member of The American Society of Quality, IAFP, and OFPA. She is the Vice Chair for the Sanitation and Hygiene Professional Development group, the SQF Training center technical advisory committee representative. Nadia’s educational background includes Industrial Microbiology honors diploma, Marketing bachelors, certificate in management, Six Sigma, and ongoing courses for professional development in food safety. She has attended University of Toronto, Centennial College, and York University.

In 2017, Shirley retired from Health Canada, Ontario Region. In her last position (as Food Policy Liaison Officer), Shirley worked closely with various stakeholders involved in food safety, including all 3 levels of government, industry and their associations, health professionals, academia, and consumer groups. She was also very active in food safety education and outreach to the general public. Previous to her 27 years at Health Canada, Shirley worked for 8 1/2 years at Nabisco - "Mr. Christie” and "Peek Frean" cookies in the lab and plant sanitation. Shirley graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science in the Microbiology Specialist Programme.

Steve is the Chair of the Applied Biology and Environmental Science Department at Centennial College. He has over 15 years of experience in quality assurance and microbiology. He has worked at the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA), BioMerieux, and Kraft Foods to name a few. In his current role at Centennial College. Steve is actively seeking partnerships with industry to enhance opportunities for students and graduates of the Food Science Technology Program, and the other applied science programs (i.e. Biotechnology, Environmental Technology, and Biomedical Engineering Technology) in his department. Steve holds a Master of Science in Food Safety and Quality Assurance from the University of Guelph.
Director: Lead Poster Contest at 2020 Meetings; Lead Scholarship Committee - Kristen Green - Joined Board of Directors 2018
Kristen has been with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) since 2008, most recently as the Manager of the Monitoring and Analysis Unit in the Food Inspection Branch. Her team at OMAFRA uses risk-based evidence and data analytics to drive continuous improvement in inspection delivery and regulatory compliance to improve food safety. Prior to joining OMAFRA, Kristen worked as an industry consultant for Mallot Creek Group Inc., developing and implementing food safety and traceability programs across the agri-food sector. Kristen holds a Master of Science from the University of Guelph, a Bachelor of Science from the University of Western Ontario, and recently completed the Executive Education Program at the Harvard Kennedy School in Strategic Management of Regulatory and Enforcement Agencies.

Laurie has over 15 years experience in the food processing industry. Right after graduation, she was employed by Quaker at the Peterborough location as a QA tech, Maple Leaf Consumer foods in North Battleford Saskatchewan as a HACCP Coordinator, Maple Leaf Animal Nutrition in Mississauga as the senior lab technician, and at Golden Valley Farms she started as a QA tech and was promoted a year later to Quality Assurance Manager. In this position, she hardened her skills with CFIA regulation/inspection for meat processing and Food Safety/Qualit
Currently, she is enjoying her position at Baldinger Sons Bakery in Brampton where she is the QA Manager overseeing all Food Safety/Quality/SQF/customer specific requirements.
Laurie is a graduate of Durham College where she earned her Advance Diploma in Applied Sciences for Food and Pharmaceutical Technologies.
Director: Lead 2020 Golf Event; Lead Membership Committee - Greg Vallee – Joined Board of Directors 2019:
Greg is the Sales Manager with Maxxam Analytics and as an OFPA Board of Director, organizes the Golf tournament and sits on the Newsletter Committee. Greg also sits on the CMC technical committee and participates in sub-committees while also attending many industry tradeshows, workshops and conferences to stay abreast of the ever-evolving food industry. With a passion to help others succeed, Greg leads the Maxxam sales team across Canada supporting FSQA and R&D professionals in analytical testing and support. He played a key role in expanding Maxxam’s portfolio of services to include challenge studies both in pathogen outgrowth and inactivation. Prior to joining Maxxam, Greg occupied various roles in FSQA/regulatory for Pillers Fine Foods over a 10-year span. Greg holds a degree in food science from the University of Guelph. As a foodie at heart, Greg is excited to be part of the OFPA board.

Gwynne is a food safety and quality specialist with a strong passion for the strategic development of food safety and quality management systems. She has over 10 years of experience holding various quality assurance and technical roles within the bakery industry. Currently, Gwynne holds the position of Quality Manager at Embassy Ingredients – where she leads the Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Sanitation programs and maintains various certifications such as BRC, organic, gluten free (GFCP), non-GMO verification project, kosher and halal.
Gwynne is currently a member of IAFP and OFPA. She is PCQI certified, maintains a BRC Professional status and holds a B.Sc degree in biological chemistry from Guelph University.
