There is a lot that happens in a food plant that goes unseen; and the “snapshot” view of the facility taken by a GFSI audit cannot be relied on as the full story, or an ongoing indicator, of the integrity of your food safety system. But all too often, companies rely on these audits as a measure of their food safety.

So, what is the answer? The Internal Audit.

Implementing (or bolstering an existing) internal audit program with focused corrective actions not only provides a more in-depth and actionable overview of your food safety programs, it is required by GFSI! Despite this, the internal audit is a function that is not often fully implemented in many food plants. Even when it is conducted, there is a tendency to neglect the implementation of corrective actions on the findings.

Moderated by TAG Director, Communications Lisa Lupo, this session will provide participants with an overview of internal audits, the value they provide, and recommendations and best practices in setting up and conducting an effective, actionable internal audit program.

To provide a balanced perspective, participants will hear from:

  •     Cameron Prince, TAG Executive Vice President, Regulatory Affairs, and TAG Canada Managing Director
  •   Lisa Jo Lupo, Director, Communications
