In the high-stakes, fast-paced environment of food processing facilities, effective leadership must go beyond the confines of office walls. Failures in this business can lead to foodborne tragedies.  Gemba walks—a Lean Management practice meaning “the real place”—serve as a powerful tool for leaders to cultivate a strong, visible presence on the factory floor. This webinar presented by three members of the Cultivate Core Team explores how Gemba walks can reinforce leadership credibility, foster employee engagement, and drive continuous improvement in food manufacturing settings.

Through some real-world examples and best practices, we will illustrate how Gemba walks enable leaders to gain firsthand insights into daily operations, this builds trust with frontline employees and identifies opportunities for improvements to food safety programs and to the behaviors of teams.   This webinar will also address the importance of presence—being seen, heard, and approachable—as a critical component of leadership that influences culture, accountability, and morale. Attendees will leave with a practical framework for conducting effective Gemba walks, including preparation, observation techniques, coaching conversations, and follow-up actions. This session will help you use Gemba walks not just as a management tool, but as a leadership strategy to connect, align, and elevate performance on the factory floor.
